Old English Bulldog (United States).
In the interest of reviving the ancient English Bulldog, this breed was produced in the 20th century by crossing the English Bulldog, the Bull Mastiff and the American Pit Bull.
Standing 51 to 64 cm tall and weighing 29 to 48 kg, the Old English Bulldog has a massive head, a solidly built, mastiff-type body, rose ears and a close-lying coat in a variety of colours. This bold, determined dog may be aggressive.
Character, special skills and training
The Bulldog is vigorous, courageous, hardy, well-balanced and dignified. Despite his frightening appearance, he is an affectionate, calm, quit dog of excellent character. He makes a marvelous playmate for children and develops a strong bond with his owner. Firm training is required.
Care and function.
The Bulldog can adapt to city living provided he exercises regularly. He does not tolerate heat well. Daily brushing ie required. Special attention must be given to the folds on his face to ward off possible skin irritation.
